Why It’s Ok To Spend Valentines Day Single

Valentine’s Day is that time of year that loved ones show their appreciation for each other. I am such a hopeless romantic and I think the idea of Valentine’s Day is beautiful. I know a lot of people don’t agree with Valentine’s Day as they think that if you are in a loving relationship, every day should be Valentine’s Day for you but in reality that’s not true. Every working day can be busy and stressful and it’s not often that people in love do get time to spend an evening together and be romantic so whether you believe in it or not, I myself think it is wonderful.

I am unfortunately single at the moment but that didn’t mean I didn’t have anyone to spend the day with. Me and my three friends Chloe, Kevin and James all decided to go out for a romantic 2 course meal and it was amazing. I had the best night I have had in a long time. I love these guys so much so why not spend the most loving day of the year together, that way I can show them how much appreciate having them in my life and that’s exactly what I did.

I half expected valentines to be upsetting and sad for me this year due to recently coming out of a long-term relationship. However spending the evening with my friends was more enjoyable than being stuck in a relationship neither of us were happy in. Recently I’ve learnt that your friends will always be there for you where as relationship do come and go. My one bit of advice to everyone is to never push your friends aside if you get into a relationship because your friends will be the ones to pick up the pieces when it all goes. I learnt this the hard way and lost many friends during my previous relationship. So if you love and appreciate your friends make sure you keep them close and love them with all your heart.

As well as this I would like to mention that Valentine’s Day isn’t all about the money. It’s about the thought you put into it and that’s exactly where my next story comes in. Some people go crazy purchasing dozens of roses but how cliché is that! You want to do something special for that individual person to show how much you care. There is a certain guy I have in my life and we aren’t anything. We aren’t in a relationship and we aren’t so you call it “seeing each other” we have been very good friends for a long time. He has been there for me throughout everything in my life and I couldn’t thank him enough for what he’s done for me recently. He turned up at my work once I had finished and gave me a valentines gift. Not only was the card beautiful with such loving words but the present was so thoughtful as well. He bought me a little unicorn teddy which was blue and pink my two favourite colours. For anyone who knows me will know how obsessed I am with unicorns at the moment so I thought it was amazing he bought this for me. The best part about the gift was that I had never actually mentioned I liked unicorns to him before so it just goes to show how much he thought about me. What a cutie.

That is pretty much where my Valentine’s Day comes to an end. I would absolutely love to hear all about your valentines days treats and what you got up to on the day. Whether you are in a relationship or you are single, let me know how your day went!
