Recently I was given the opportunity to get involved and submit a piece of work for the awesome Young & Twenty campaign. I thought this was a great experience and I was very exciting to get involved with it. Young & Twenty offer real life advice on being young and I think what they do is absolutely fantastic. It’s extraordinary to hear real life stories from people who have experienced being young and the struggles that not everybody knows we face.
I have decided to share my submission with you guys as I thought it would be nice to get as many people involved as possible. Below is the piece of work I submitted.
When I was approached and asked to submit a piece for the awesome Young & Twenty campaign I sat there and thought to myself, what can I write about? What if my life isn’t as put together as some other twenty year olds, I don’t really know what I’m doing with my life as it is.
But that’s when I decided to do my research and read a few of the other submissions and I realised we aren’t meant to have our life together yet. Being 20 is a strange age to be, you aren’t quite an adult but you aren’t a child either. The reality is nobody knows what they are doing and that is ok.
Being twenty is the age you experience a lot of things for the first time. That long term relationship from school that breaks your heart and leaves you broken. Looking at career choices and the aspects of changing careers in order to make a bright future for yourself and lastly thinking for yourself, defending for yourself on your own two feet and being the best you that you can be.
The many positives and negatives you will experience throughout your teens will impact on the person you choose to be. Life is too short to stress and worry so take it with a pinch of salt and enjoy being Young & Twenty.
