My top 5 songs with great meanings & powerful lyrics

I think all us music lovers can agree there is no better feeling than being able to lay there, earphones in and music up full blast listening to your favourite tunes. No matter if you are happy or sad, music will be there for you throughout it all and that’s why I love my music. I am actually a fan of all types of genres when it comes to music, my iPod is a scary place when you press that shuffle button. One minute you are listening to Bohemian rhapsody then next you’re listening to a bit of Justin Bieber.

Today I thought it would be a great idea to share a few of my favourite tracks that I believe have great meanings and powerful lyrics behind them. All these songs I have chosen today have completely different stories/reasons for their lyrics. I’m not too sure if the lyrics in these songs just mean something to me because of the way I feel about life and my own personal experiences or if they are just relatable in general.

1) Ugly – Sugababes

The first song I decided to choose was Ugly by the Sugababes. This is a song that takes me back to my earlier days of 2009. Back in 2009 I had never really taken any notice in the lyrics to this song, it was only recently that I heard it again and realised how relatable this song truly is. I like to believe that every single person in this world can relate to the lyrics and I also wish that everyone in the world would act upon the meaning of this beautiful track. Ultimately, we are all the same and different at the same and that’s what I think is the most amazing thing about the humankind. As humans we know how fragile we can be and why would you want to treat other people in ways you know you wouldn’t like. If you would like to hear this song just click the link below.

“People are all the same and we only get judged by what we do, My personality reflects me and if I’m ugly then, So are you” – now you can’t tell me these lyrics are great.

2) Beautiful – Eminem

This choice is more from a personal aspect as I feel that I can really relate to how Eminem feels in this song. You can hear the passion in his voice and can feel the lyrics of this song. I get what he means completely with every single lyric I hear. I have always suffered with anxiety and depression and this song is a true representation of how I feel when I get down and have to pick myself back up. I think this song is actually a very positive tune although it’s all about feeling depressed. It’s honest and tells you to get yourself together and by me listening to this song it helps me realise that everyone struggles but you will get through it.

“I took my bruises, took my lumps, fell down and I got right back up”

3) Mama’s Song – Carrie Underwood

I heard this song for the first time yesterday and I thought the lyrics were so beautiful it actually inspired me to write this post. This song is about a young girl talking to her mother on her wedding day about her leaving home and moving in with her husband. I think this song got to me because of how close me and mum are. It made me think about the fact one day I will be leaving my mum and I just want her to know I will always be there for her no matter where in the world I will be. The lyrics of this song is so beautiful I simply can’t explain well enough to do it justice. I definitely recommend you giving this a listen.

“Mama you taught me to do the right things, So now you have to let your baby fly. You’ve given me everything that I will need, To make it through this crazy thing called life”

4) See you again – Charlie Puth

My fourth choice in this list would have to be Charlie Puth’s version of See you again. Although the original with Wiz khalif was absolutely amazing, I personally think the no rap version is better. I actually have both versions on my iPod so I’m not too fussed in which one I end up listening to but some of the lyrics in the no rap version are very relatable for myself especially. This is a very sad song for me as it was played at my boyfriends funeral who sadly passed away in a car crash back in November 2016. With that aside I think anyone who’s lost someone close to them can relate to this song.

“Why’d you have to leave so soon, why’d you have to go. Why’d you have to leave me when I needed you the most. ‘Cause I don’t really know how to tell you without feeling’ much worse, I know you’re in a better place but it’s always gonna hurt”

5) Teenage dream – Katy perry

The fifth and final choice I have decided to lighten the mood a little and go for Teenage Dream by the beautiful and talented Katy Perry. Every single part of this song is so relatable to anyone falling in love for the first time or anyone thinking about their first love. Even though I am no longer with my first love this song brings back so many happy memories for myself. Listening to the lyrics of this song makes you feel like you are experiencing it all again and that’s really not a bad feeling is it?

“My heart, stops when you look at me. Just one touch, Now baby I believe. This is real so take a chance And don’t ever look back”

These songs cover every emotion you could possibly think of so I hope no matter how you are currently feeling my post has bought some comfort to you. Feel free to leave me a comment and let me in on your favourite go to songs?

These songs are great choices to share! I personally prefer the no rap version of See You Again too, it definitely makes me cry still though! Have you heard the Boyce Avenue version of Teenage Dream? It’s a different mood as it’s acoustic but really beautiful!
Love the style of your blog by the way! 🙂
