Nobody is perfect in this world and that’s something we all need to remind ourselves on a daily basis. Just because in your eyes someone may look perfect on the outside, it does not mean they are happy and healthy on the inside. Today’s post is a few tips I’ve put together to help you get your life in gear and be that healthy/happy person you inspire to be. None of which require money and can all be easily achieved by slightly tweaking your day to day routines. I’m no doctor but what if I was to tell you I can offer you a huge step forward into the perfect life you crave. Here are some effortless yet successful tips to help make things just that little bit easier for you.
When the ‘Are you still watching’ notification pops up, take this as a sign.. switch off Netflix and make sure you’re getting enough sleep.
I can’t stress how important it is for you to get enough sleep and for how much better you will feel within yourself if you do. This is something I have always struggled with so I’m not going to sit here and tell you it’s easy but I do have a few tips that have helped me over the years. Realistically we should be getting an average of 7-9 hours of sleep. It’s extremely easy to lay there of an evening and continuously scroll through social media or binge-watching Riverdale on Netflix. The first step is to try and turn it off and rest your mind so you can relax, after a while, your mind will get into a routine and you will find it easier to fall asleep. For myself, I find reading a chapter of my book or listening to guided meditation truly helps me fall asleep. Skip all nighters guys, stop procrastinating and plan ahead, you can thank me later!
Ignore the dairy milk winking at you from the corner of the room and try to eat right when you can (Lean, Green & Mean)
As a student, I have learnt how expensive it is to be healthy. There is nothing worse than wanting to be healthy and noticing a simple salad is at least £3.00. Considering I am a curvy girl I’m not the biggest fan of fast food and the unhealthier option, by no means does this mean I don’t have the odd £1 pizza or super noodles every now and then but I do prefer to stick to my chicken and vegetables. It’s super important to eat healthy as the way I see it is we only get one body and we are going to need those parts to be super strong one day, I want to live to 103 and I’m going to make sure I do. It doesn’t matter if you don’t know how to cook because, to be honest, neither do I. Most of the time I just get my favourite ingredients, throw it all together and usually see what I end up with. Here are a few of my top favourite foods which are healthy and taste fantastic; chickpeas, sweet potato, avocado on wholegrain toast, fruit-infused porridge, couscous and lastly hummus. I truly recommend trying out a few of these as you’ll be surprised in what you liked.
Step to the left, step to the right, take it back now ya’ll, 5 hops this time! Make sure to exercise in your own way.
When you hear the word exercise you automatically associate this with the gym and paying for an extremely expensive membership that you’ll most probably only ever use once,
however, this is not the case. I’m not going to be a hypocrite and say “Oh my god, you HAVE to go to the gym like who doesn’t” I have never been to a gym once in my life. If you are like me and are put off exercise due to your confidence issues, doing something as simple as going for a walk in the evening or walking to and from work is a fantastic start and would be great for your health. It’s all about those baby steps to help you along the way, don’t push yourself too hard and within time you will feel a lot better.
Plan a routine and stick to it… simple as, don’t beat around that bush because that bush could be the answer you need. you can thank me later.
Sometimes life can get a little hectic and it can feel like you never get moments break to yourself. Having a busy lifestyle can drain you and play a huge part in your mental health if you consistently feel this way. Stress and anxiety caused can be solved very simply just by planning ahead and getting yourself into a regular comfortable routine. It is very easy to put things off and say “I’ll deal with that later” but you are the only person who can change this and you are the only one holding you back. If you aren’t the kind of person who likes to keep up with a diary that’s ok, you can train your brain to recognise routine without having to write it down, it’s actually amazing how clever our minds are and how they work. Make sure to set yourself goals every week but make sure to make them achievable, nothing worse than unachievable goals as this will result in you feeling like a failure but in fact, you’re just putting pressure on yourself to achieve something unrealistic.
Put all these plans together and you’ll be well and truly on your way to be a happy and healthy human. Life can be super tough at times but you’ve got to learn to turn those weaknesses into strengths and enjoy the process along the way. For every no, there are at least three yes so put that smile on your face and learn to love the life you live.
