International Women’s Day
“Here’s to the strong women. May we know them, may we be them, may we raise them”
What is International Women’s Day? Well, today is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. The story of women’s struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist nor to any one organization but to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights.
To mark this special occasion I have decided to dedicate a post to a few beautiful, creative and inspiring women. When I was laying in bed this morning thinking about this post, it took me so long to decide on which women I would talk about. So many different women have impacted my life in such a positive way that it was hard to choose.
Before we get into the post I just want to thank these special ladies that spared a few minutes out of their day to help me with my post. You guys did not need to help me but you did, so in order to say thank you for sending me your bitemojis.. here’s a shoutout!
My best friends Paige, Justine, and Iman
And lastly my nan.
My Beautiful Mother
I would be crazy not to start with my mum, I mean who wouldn’t? My mum is my ultimate role model and not only because she is a complete and utter babe. My mum is the most confident and comforting person I have ever met which has helped me so much over the years. She is the first person I go to when I need advice, when I’m happy, when I’m sad and almost every emotion in between. There is no bond stronger than ours and for that, I am so grateful. A true inspiration you are to me and I love you so much.
I would just like to say thank you, thank you for being my mum.
My University Personal Tutor
After starting university in September I was privileged to be grouped with the BEST personal tutor ever. I can’t express how thankful and grateful I am for this lady and how much she has done for me. Not only physically but emotionally as well. I’ve never met a more passionate and understanding lady, her children are very lucky to have a mum such as her. Her passion for the course inspires me and makes me want to work harder every day to achieve what she has.
So once again, thank you for making my first year as comfortable and enjoyable as you have.
I know that recently there has been a lot of hate towards Zoella, many people have opinions on her and don’t agree with what she stands for. I completely accept everybody is entitled to their own opinions but for me, Zoella is a true inspiration. The one thing we forget is that once upon a time she was just an average young girl with a passion for writing, just like the majority of us. She has done so well for herself and continues to inspire people every day. As someone who has experience with anxiety and panic attacks, I look up to Zoe. I can’t begin to imagine how hard it must be to deal with this in the limelight but she makes it work and is forever positive.
Thank you, Zoe, Thank you for helping inspire me to create my own dream.
My next nomination for inspirational ladies is the lovely Beth Louise. I don’t know this girl well and to be honest I have never even spoken to her, However, I have followed her on social media for some time now. The other day she posted something on Instagram that made me feel absolutely beyond inspired. She posted a picture in regards to body shaming and promoting body confidence. The picture was of her sitting down with the camera angle catching all her worse bits to prove that she’s ‘not perfect’. Although, I think she is beautiful this was amazing as it showed that she didn’t care what people thought. This is the kind of girl I inspire to be.
Thank you, Beth, thank you for making me feel good about my body.
These ladies are just a few of the BABES that have inspired me to be the best woman I can be. I just wanted to take five minutes of everyone’s day to say how grateful I am for the women who fight every day for us. Gender equality is a serious issue of extreme importance. Make sure you do your part today and join the community promoting women’s rights.
Happy International Women’s Day 2018.
