5 Ways To Make The Most Out Of Your Easter Weekend

5 Ways To Make The Most Out Of Your Easter Weekend

I can’t comprehend how it’s already April, this year seems to be flying by and there’s literally no stopping it. As I’m sure many of you know today is Easter Sunday. Today is the perfect day to get involved with your family and have lots of fun, whether you are into your arts and crafts, cooking, baking or even fancy a day out (if the weathers nice of course).

It’s a little different for me now as the youngest member of our family is no longer young, he is now 12 and is literally not interested in anything that doesn’t involve his Xbox. However, my mum and I still get great enjoyment out of doing silly little Easter related things and try to get him involved as much as we can.

I have decided to write a post in regards to some top tips on how to make the most out of your Easter weekend. Here are 5 ideas on how you can spend your Easter break, whether you have young kids or not, there’s something fun here for everyone:

Baking

I absolutely LOVE to ‘attempt’ to bake. I am no good at cooking, but I really enjoy trying to create new things. This year we decided to bake Apple slice cakes, They were super easy and really fun to do. I actually got this recipe from Nosh Student Recipe Book it’s a fantastic recipe book which teaches students how to cook healthy yet affordable meals.

Country Park Walk & Picnic

As we know Easter Sunday is a religious day therefore everywhere tends to be closed. If you are like me and hate to be stuck indoors for too long I can really recommend a simple walk. You’ll be surprised as to how many walks are located near where you live that you probably never even knew about. It’s amazing what a quick google search can find and If it’s a lovely spring day why not make it even better by bringing along a picnic. I am from Kent and purchased a ‘50 Walks In Kent Book’ which is great because they are all local, you can purchase these easy enough online or WHsmiths and they cover most areas in England.

Easter Egg Hunt

You can’t go wrong with the classic Easter egg hunt, this will always be a win for the children (and the adults). This was my favourite part of Easter growing up as my mum used to make it so fun and exciting. All she would do would make up really simple yet fun clues to where our eggs were hidden. Here are a few examples of the silly rhymes she would do…

“I Have four legs but cannot walk, you sit at me when using your knife and fork”

“You will get your eggs soon but not quite yet, as I believe there is something on the Tv set”

“The Easter eggs are near now on this I’d like to bet. The next place that they are hiding in they are bound to get quite wet”

“This is your very last clue and will lead you to your eggs, with all this searching I’m getting quite tired. Let’s go sleep in the _________?”

As a kid, what more could you really want?

Snuggling up and watch a movie

There is no denying that snuggling up on the sofa with lots of Easter eggs whilst watching an Easter movie is the best idea this weekend. Your film choice doesn’t have to be Easter related but it’s always good to get in the spirit. If you are lacking in ideas, here are a few classics that my brother and I have always enjoyed.

– Hop The Movie (My favourite)

– Peter Rabbit

– Evan Almighty

– Charlottes Webb

– if you have any other ideas feel free to share below.

Spring Cleaning Time

Last but not least for the adults, why not spring clean? You’ve probably got an average of around 3 days off work so why not spend one making your bedroom/home fresh and clean. Nobody likes cleaning but sometimes a spring clean is very much needed and I can guarantee you’ll feel so much better for it.

So here are just a few ideas of how my family and I tend to spend the Easter weekend and I hope I’ve helped inspire you to make the most of your Easter this year. However, no pressure at all… If you want to want to spend your weekend doing absolutely nothing I also don’t blame you. Sit on your bum the WHOLE time and I promise not to judge.

Spring Cleaning is definitely a good idea to do over Easter! Baking and reading is also on my to do list, and not reading for Uni but for enjoyment. I hope you have a nice Easter weekend x
