The Power To Be Anonymous For One Day | What Would You Say?

The Power To Be Anonymous For One Day | What Would You Say?

I don’t know why but the idea of being anonymous has always interested me. I have always wanted to disappear and experience a world where nobody knows who I am. A place I could reinvent myself and be the best me I could be. Not that I’ve been some terrible, unforgiving human because I haven’t (My life is not that interesting, I can assure you that). But just am escape my reality for a short while.

It’s just like wearing a fancy dress costume with a mask covering up your face. For some reason, people always feel more confident when they aren’t portraying their own identity. It’s sad but it’s also very true. Being scared of being judged is an awful thing and It’s hard when you do feel this way.

This is why I have decided to have a bit of fun and allow people a time and place where they can be themselves and freely say what they want. Using the website Sarahah I asked people to send in anything they wished but anonymous.

Whether they wanted somewhere to rant, express the good/bad, write quotes, statements or even ask questions. Here are the first few messages I received throughout the past month.

Whoever wrote this I absolutely LOVE the way our minds think. This is exactly what I meant and you’re right. I believe it can help turn them into giants who can stand up to the darkest parts of society’s oppression. It’s horrible to think that Anonymity can turn people into arseholes and I don’t like to feel that way. However, the sad truth is you’re probably correct with that statement.

Originally I didn’t want to keep this one included because of the fact I don’t know how to deal with compliments. I would love to feel confident enough in myself to appreciate these but I really struggle. Although, this is the kindest thing anyone could say and I really appreciate that, it can be hard for me to read. But if you are reading this.. thank you for your lovely, kind and thoughtful words.

Firstly, I’d just like to say I love how all of these messages have been positive in some way or another. I think it’s great that people compliment one another and spread positive vibes, it’s a good feeling. Now for the message, thank you very much for your comment, that’s really sweet of you. Twitter is the one place I love to rant and moan, funnily enough, most of these involve the other half. But if you are able to get enjoyment out of his irritating ways I’m glad.

social media

Hmm, this is an interesting one but very easy to answer. If I could change one thing it would be how quick people are to attack when they do not agree. It’s just not fair how I can write one little comment (that’s not even rude) and people will be hurtful and attack. It’s honestly my one pet hate with Twitter.

sarahah questions

You are so so SO sweet and I hope you know how glad I am we have this online friendship. As you were naughty and signed it ‘T’ I knew exactly who you were, but no worries I’ll let you off this one time. Only kidding but honestly thank you so much for your sweet words. You are such a lovely, charming and friendly person who I am glad I have met.

Unfortunately not, you’re 100% anonymous here. Even if I had the option to find out who these messages were from I think I would keep it a secret. You are entitled to your privacy, my friend.

For many of you who read my posts regularly will know this isn’t my typical post, however, I thought it would be fun to change it around a bit. I thought it super interesting to see what you all had to say when you have the chance to be anonymous and those were the results. I hope you enjoyed reading the results and if you wish to get involved in a similar post head over to Sarahah where you can set yourself up with an anonymous profile.
