Imagine this, a whole blog post dedicated to the beauty of delicious, succulent, and scrumptious foods. Well, no need to imagine because that’s exactly what you’re about to get. They always say a good writer is passionate about what they write and you are just about to witness me in all my glory.
No matter where I’m going food is always a top priority. My partner and I are big foodies, although you’d never tell it by looking at him and would completely know by looking at me. Talk about a lot of junk in the trunk. We are forever planning to go here, there and everywhere trying out different dishes, cuisines and god knows what.
Places To Eat In Athens
Recently we took our first trip to Greece and spent a few days in the spectacular city of Athens. I have always been a fan of greek food but never before tried it from the country itself. As we all know, a trip to the heart of the soul will never be a disappointment when it comes to cuisines.
During my 3 days, I did find some lovely and interesting places to eat in Athens and I thought I would share them with.
Hard Rock Cafe
Ok, I know what you are saying ‘That’s not greek’ and you are correct. However, it is some god damn good food. I have always had a fascination with Hard Rock Cafes all over the world. Not only is the food quality great but the atmosphere around the restaurant is fantastic too.
Ever since the age of 10 when I went to my first ever Hard Rock Cafe I have made it my quest to travel the world and tick them off one by one. I have now been to 6 restaurants around the globe and being able to experience Athens made it that extra bit special.
The location could not have been any more perfect for us as it was just a short walk from our hotel as well as being on steps away from the historic city center. Imagine relaxing with a cocktail in one hand whilst you sit back and enjoy the stunning views of the Acropolis. The new Hard Rock Cafe Athens is a must-see for both visitors and locals alike and I would definitely recommend you take a visit.
The Bread Factory
The Bread Factory was a bakery like I’ve never seen before. If you’re from England, you’ll be very familiar with the cafe Greggs? Well, imagine Greggs x100 and smothered in gold dust specifically produced by the queen herself.
Yes, it was THAT good.
Not only did this bakery sell the most beautiful cakes, biscuits, and other fancy treats but also, had a fresh greek hot food section. Here is where you could find all your fresh bread products as well as some hot greek gyros.
I’m not sure if we were lucky or extremely unfortunate to have our hotel placed right next door. It was a blessing and a curse to have the option to purchase dessert from this place every evening. I’m not going to lie, I did indeed purchase from here more than I like to admit and I’m pretty sure I put on a lot of weight. But hey ho, that’s what holidays are all about right?
Welcoming you back to my favorite part of Athens, here is Plaka. In Plaka, you will find many shops, sidewalk restaurants, and family-owned taverns. With some many to choose from where do you decide to go? All you want is real Greek food without the tourist price, right?
Well, that’s where I come in and introduce you to the most FANTASTIC restaurant I have ever been to. Not only was their food superb but their hospitality was like nothing I’d ever experienced before.
To begin with they supplied us with warm, fresh bread with a great greek dip (unfortunately I cannot remember what this was called). Then they brought us an ice cold liter bottle of still water to share, which was absolutely amazing after spending hours prior to this in 33-degree heat. Lastly, after the meal, they asked if we had time to spare as we could both have a beer on the house. All of the above was completely free and who doesn’t LOVE a freebie!
Arcadia is a great spot for families, friends and almost everyone in between. They truly do cater to the needs of each customer and definitely make sure you leave with a smile on your face. I would 100% recommend this place to everyone planning a trip to Athens so please, do make sure you visit here.
