Start a blog they said, it’ll be fun, they said.
No, I’m kidding! blogging is beyond my favorite hobby and I wouldn’t be without it but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t get overwhelming from time to time. It isn’t just about writing a few paragraphs here and there, then clicking publish. It takes time, preparation and a whole load of dedication.
Here Are My Most Successful Blog Writing Tips:
I’ve decided to put together a few of my most successful blog writing tips that I’ve learned over the past 3 years. Don’t get me wrong my blog is far from perfect and I’m still improving each and every single day.
The best thing about my blog, however, is that I pride myself in being genuine. I do not claim to know everything there ever was to know about running a successful blog.
My grammar could improve by 150% and It still wouldn’t be the best but what I can do is provide you with some genuine support and advice. I understand how hard it can be and if there’s anyway I can help make it a little bit more simple for you then I will.
Categories Your Blog Posts
This is something I’ve only recently decided to do but oh my! I am so glad I did. I was constantly reading online about how your blog needs to have a specific niche to be successful. This started to really stress me out because I write about a lot of different topics. I started questioning myself and wondering if my blog was good enough?
However, I came up with a fantastic solution! I decided to plan and prep a different topic for each day in which I post. That way my audience will know exactly when I will be posting each category and if they aren’t interested in one, they simply don’t have to read that day. It’s great because not only is it easier for my audience to follow but also helps me stay on top of planning my posts.
This is what my typical weekly schedule looks like since the change:
Monday = Relationships
Wednesday = Blog Advice
Friday = Lifestyle
Sunday = Travel
Bullet Point Your Ideas:
I can’t stress enough how handy it is to have a notepad! or even if you aren’t someone who likes to write, make sure to take full advantage of the notes tab on your phone. I am forever jotting down ideas here, there and everywhere so I don’t forget them by the time I get to my laptop in the evenings.
This is also a great technic for filling out a blog post when you don’t have much time to spare. I quite often draft my posts with heading titles and then fill out the missing pieces when I sit down in the evenings.
Change Your Surroundings:
I tell you what, working from home isn’t always what it seems. It sounds fantastic right? getting to work on your own schedule, not having to wait for your boss to say when you can have lunch but, it’s not always the best.
Personally, I really
Make Full Use Of A Planner:
This is something I am still getting used to but when I am able to it helps me prepare so much more. Not only does it make my life easier and less stressful but also helps me stay on top of my blogging game.
You’ve probably heard of the ‘bullet journal’ right? well, that’s not what we are discussing today. Quite frankly, this really didn’t work for me. I got so caught up at the fact mine didn’t look as good as the designs on Pinterest and simply gave up.
You don’t have to go all out with the bullet journal as long as you have some sort of diary with 365 days. I use my diary to plan and prep which posts I will be sharing in the upcoming weeks. This is great as it allows you to plan your posts around holidays. For example; with Valentine’s day coming up I made sure to schedule posts and have had 3 go up on time ready for the big day.

Use Scheduling Sites To Help With Your Social Media:
preparation don’t want to be glued to your phone all day long. Jumping between Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest every 5 minutes is not healthy for anyone. But, as someone who blogs, I understand how important social media can be when trying to get your work noticed.
That is where scheduling sites come in handy. I don’t know if ‘scheduling sites’ is actually the correct term but let me just explain. There are sites out there in which help you plan ahead and schedule your latest upload to be posted at a later date. This way you don’t have to be constantly sat at your laptop screen waiting to share your latest link.
Twitter is by far my favourite and most popular social media site. I have nearly 9k followers and I engage with around 8,999 of them. Due to this being such a great way of me getting traffic to my blog I do try to make sure I tweet at least every day. If I know I’ve got a busy day or week ahead I will always make sure to schedule a few quotes, funny tweets or share my blog so they upload automatically. This is good for staying engaged with your audience and making sure your account is always active.
Luckily for us, Twitter actually has their own site which allows you to schedule these at no additional cost. All you have to do is sign up your account to Twitter analytics and you’re ready to go.
Pinterest is something I’ve only recently started using for blog traffic. After hearing so many positive things about the site I just had to jump on the bandwagon.
Of course, with Pinterest, you have to make sure you are consistent otherwise your account is unlikely to succeed. Using apps such as Tailwind really can help you manage your time and make sure you are pinning constantly!
And… Remember Consistency Is Key:
With so many different blog writing tips and tricks out there it’s hard to work out what’s best for you. Understandably, what will work for some people won’t always work for others.
If it wasn’t for the book Blogging Made Easy I would not be where I am today. I can’t stress enough how important it is to research if you want to learn more. You wouldn’t go into an exam expecting to know everything if you haven’t revised beforehand… well, blogging is kind of the same thing.
The book itself was written by 4 top bloggers who have shared their own personal experiences working in this field. If you are interested in taking a look at the book, you can find it over on Amazon by clicking the following link
