10 Quick Fixes To Start Each Working Day With A Positive Mindset

Do you work from home but struggle to stay motivated and productive throughout the day? Don’t worry, we all go through it. Here are some of my most successful quick fixes to make sure you start each day with a positive mindset.

Wake Up Early:

Getting yourself into a nice early routine is so beneficial for your body. Not only does it increase your health but improves your mindset as well.

I’ve always been very lucky at the fact my body naturally wakes up before the crack of dawn. However, I do understand that this is a lot easier said than done. A little tip from me to you is to slowly start setting your alarm clock a little earlier each day. By taking it in stages your body won’t be hit by the drastic change and you’ll slowly but surely get there.

Open Your Curtains:

As someone who has always suffered from depression, I know how sometimes you just want to lock yourself away from the world. I quite often have days where I really struggle to open my curtains and look at the day ahead. Over the years I have learned that unfortunately, this does nothing but fuel your pain more. If you want to feel positive and motivated, something as simple as opening up your curtains on a lovely spring day is literally all it takes.

Selfcare – Showering Before Midday:

I have recently been reading ‘Reasons To Stay Alive’ by Matt Haig and there was a part towards the end that went a little like this… How to live (forty pieces of advice I feel to be helpful but which I don’t always follow). Number 13 on that list was shower before noon.

I’m not going to lie, when I haven’t got anywhere in particular to go I quite often stay in my PJs. This sounds like the dream right? but in all honesty, it does nothing but makes me feel lazy and demotivated. By making sure you’re up, washed and dressed by noon you will quite honestly feel so much better within yourself. Leaving you feeling productive and ready for the working day ahead.

Put On Your Favourite Perfume:

How on earth can wearing perfume make my working day productive” Well, I can assure you it will. You know what they say: If you look good, you feel good. Just because you are working from home and nobody is going to see you, doesn’t mean you can’t do it for yourself. Put on your favourite perfume and feel like that million dollar boss you inspire to be.

Check Your Diary/Journal:

Always try to make sure that you write down your to-do list for the day. Therefore, you know exactly what needs to be done and you can plan how you’re going to go about it. I always make sure to begin my day by planning and prepping for the week ahead. I try to not do any more or any less than what’s written on my page so that way I don’t get overwhelmed or stressed.

You’ll be surprised how implementing just 15 minutes, in the beginning, can help you achieve everything you need to do and potentially so much more.

Have A Filling But Healthy Breakfast:

Breakfast will always be my favourite meal of the day. if you’re struggling for ideas here are some of my favourite things to eat in the morning.

  • Porridge with fresh or dried fruit
  • Muesli and low-fat Greek yogurt
  • Avocado on whole grain toast.
  • Fruit salad – a bowl of all your favourite berries.
  • Scrambled/poached egg on whole grain toast.
  • Shredded wheat with hot milk (especially on those colder days)

As you can see, I tend to always sit down and make sure I have enough time to enjoy a good breakfast. In my eyes, breakfast is the most important meal of the day and I always make sure I don’t miss it.

Make Yourself A Cold Refreshing Bottle of Water:

Right, let’s just put it out there! we all know we are meant to be drinking at least 2 litres of water a day and we all know how hard that is. I seriously struggle to keep on top of my water intake but that doesn’t mean I don’t try.

Make Time For Rest:

Just like your typical 9-5 job, you wouldn’t be expected to work a full day without any rest. set aside time throughout your ‘shift’ to leave your laptop screen and enjoy some me time.

No matter what environment you are working in you should always take some time away. Not only will this help recharge your batteries but will also help you be more productive in the long run.

Turn On ‘Do Not Disturb’

Can I stress this one enough!? Mobile phones are literally the banes of all of our lives. No matter how hard we may try, we are all guilty of picking them up and taking a look for no reason whatsoever. Well, that’s where the ‘do not disturb’ setting comes in VERY handy.

In order to get the job ahead done, I always make sure to set myself an hour or so aside and I will not look at my phone. Of course, as a blogger this is sometimes a little difficult as our jobs revolve around social media but by having the do not disturb setting on I definitely limit the number of times I look at it for pointless reasoning.

Reward Yourself For Putting These Positive Aspects In Place:

Last but not least make sure to reward yourself. You’ve done good and you should make sure your body knows it’s appreciated. Once you start implementing these 10 tips into your lifestyle your body will naturally adjust and thank you itself but, for the time being make sure you tell it.

    Great post, I really like the breakfast options as I struggle finding a nice tasting, healthy breakfast. I would also say drinking water in the morning keeps me slightly more alert.
